水蘭有大小品種的不同，原生地也有不同(北美洲、歐洲、亞洲均有發現)，扭蘭的原生地以北美洲及亞洲較多，針葉皇冠產地以南美洲為主。這三種水草都有一種共同的繁殖方式，運用橫走莖(延伸莖)發新芽、繁殖更多的下一代。書上說要有底肥才會長出延伸莖(發新芽)，懶人缸沒有施加底肥、延伸莖長的到處都是(滿好看)。水草長的茂盛之後，必須定期修剪老根及老葉，才能維持水草的漂亮、及水草的造景比例，讓水草魚缸永遠漂亮。
